Krautrock is a musical phenomenon that emerged more than 30 years ago and has had an amazing renaissance recently. The expression Krautrock was an invention of the British radio DJ John Peel, although, technically, there never actually was a Krautrock scene. Krautrockers have made musical history much richer with sounds that influenced a range of styles like New Wave, Techno and Heavy Metal. Musicians ranging from Sex Pistol/PiL member Johnny "Rotten" Lydon to the Red Hot Chili Peppers took what Krautrock had to offer and added it to their own sounds. The outcome for international rock and pop music is a reference list on which you will find Brian Eno, David Bowie, Afrika Bambaataa, Pavement and a whole host of others.
