He also was the first German musician who released an album with meditation music that exclusively consisted of electronic music. Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland worked with Eberhard Schoener for years before their international breakthrough as 'Police'.

Collegium Musicum is a Slovak prog-rock band. Its founder and leading figure was Marian Varga, one of the most distinctive rock keyboardist. The group was formed in autumn 1969 and was apparently the first ever creator of art-rock music in Czechoslovakia. The core of the largest and most intense touring productivity (1970. 1974) formed the Marian Varga, bassist Fedor Fres and drummer Dušan Hájek. With the shorter breaks the group worked on the music scene in 1979. Later it Varga occasionally renewed several times, especially in 1981 due to the recording of divergences. The band mostly known for interpretations of familiar themes from the works of classical music...

For me, this release took time to sink in because there is so much going on. Not just shredding but dynamics and melody that gives your brain a workout. Then it clicked - holy crap this is an incredible collaboration of sonic nirvana! Every song on "Culture Clash" is killer and has its own personality. Whether rock, fusion, techno, rockabilly, or prog-metal, these tunes are clever and well thought out with arrangements to die for. The disc clocks in just over 57 minutes, all instrumental, and each band mate wrote three songs. You can get lost in these songs and shouldn't focus too long on one instrument because the sum is better than its parts.

...Covering three CDs, this is one of those documents that can make a punter wonder why he ever doubted the glory, majesty, and heavy, overblown, pretentious rock power of Rush. Opening with thunderous crowd noise, "Tom Sawyer" -- with complete audience participation from the git -- it is somehow awe-inspiring to hear 40,000 people singing the song with Geddy Lee....

Out of the ashes of Tomorrow’s Gift, came Release Music Orchestra (RMO for short), who consisted of Tomorrow’s Gift’s remaining nucleus plus wind-instruments player Jacobsen. … Their Jazz Rock resembles much what was then done in Germany, such as Passport, Thirsty Moon, Kraan, Aera, etc. RMO was never a stable group and many line-up changes occurred with keyboardist Rürup remaining the sole original member throughout their 5-album career … Their sound grew, as was often the case in those days, more commercial and streamlined with each new album, sounding more and more like US Fusion Jazz of the late '70s.

A quartet from Athens-Georgia, this group managed two albums in the late 90's, but haven't been heard since. Actually, the usual prog quartet (with the bassist also doubling on sax) had started as a quintet as they also aligned a cellist, but by the debut album's release, he was gone. Their music is a rather quiet English jazz-rock, not far from Canterbury groups like Hatfield and National Health, but retaining its own spirit as well. Voted by many specialized mags, "The Uncertainty Principle" was in a lot of "top 10 of 97" lists.

Their first LP still misses Can's Damo Suzuki, but another world famous musician takes part: Reebop Kwaku Baah, percussionist of Traffic and late Can. Also in 1983, this bunch of musicians founded 'The Unknown Cases' and recorded the hit 'Masimba Bele'.

Afenginn are an adventurous Danish avant-garde klezmer band who formed in 2002. The name itself means "intoxication and strength" in Old Norse. They have a strong punk, Nordic folk and world music influence and since the release of "Akrobakkus", have taken on jazz influences as well. The group are categorised by the musical press as a "'bastard-ethno' band with Norse melancholy and cheerful madness" and they are not far off with this definition. Afenginn feature a drummer/percussionist and a bass player but adopt the more common klezmer band instruments of clarinet, violin, mandolin and mandola...

Being the quintessential album rock band, Pink Floyd hasn't had much luck with "best-of" and "greatest-hits" compilations, like A Collection of Great Dance Songs and the bizarro follow-up, Works. Since both of those were released in the early '80s (and time travel being unavailable even to Pink Floyd), they obviously left out any tracks from the post-Roger Waters era albums. While countless hours in dorm rooms have been spent laboring over whether or not the post-Waters recordings should even be considered the "real Floyd," the later albums nonetheless stand as a further progression in the band's evolution and warrant recognition. The 2001 release Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd does just that, sequencing the tracks non-chronologically in an effort to place more emphasis on the individual songs as opposed to the era they're from.

Tollhouse was sort of a German supergroup, formed by ex-Birth Control guitarist Dirk Steffens and vocalist Ian Cussick, who also appeared on Steffens' solo album "The Seventh Step", released in 1976. It's a pity this band wasn't given the acclaim it deserved as it showed great promise, even though the sound veered in a more American AOR direction, comparable to Lake.

September grew out of the short-lived super-group project Jugoslovenska Pop Selekcija in September 1975, whose members included Tihomir Pop Asanovic-organ, Janez Boncina-vocals, guitar, Braco Doblekar-percussion, congas and Ratko Divjak- drums. Charley Novak on bass and formally educated musician Pero Ugrin on electric violin and trumpet joined soon for the recording of the first album, ironically titled "Zadnja avantura" (Eng. "The Last Adventure"). The album was recorded in February 1976 in Ljubljana and released shortly afterwards but passed largely unnoticed...
